Marwan Hayek started to take on the roles carried out by Hervé Suquet as
Mobinil's new Vice President, Technology in September 2007. From this date and
until end of year 2007, there will be a transition in the responsibilities from
Hervé Suquet to Marwan Hayek.
Hayek was Chief Technical Officer of Mobilink, Pakistan's leading mobile
service provider and an OTH subsidiary from 2003 to 2007. Over these last four
years, Hayek contributed to subscribers increase from under one million to more
than 30 million due to his successful efforts in expanding a reliable and
stable network to secure wide coverage and in return customer satisfaction for
Mobilink.
Hayek made Mobilink's network quality jump to top position in a six-operator
market. He also contributed to revolutionizing Mobilink's network by
introducing state-of-the-art technologies such as NGN [New Generation
Networks], soft switches, ngHLR, WiMAX broadband network, 6000 km of optical
fiber backbone, and extensive rural coverage with the rollout of more than 200
sites per month.
Since 1999 and before joining Mobilink, Hayek was Group Technical Director at
Orascom Telecom Holding where he served as a dedicated member of its management
team. Whilst working with OTH, Hayek established extensive experience in the
telecommunications market in North Africa and Asia, as a result of his
dedicated and skillful efforts in the deployment of new networks and the
expansion of others within the OTH group.
Marwan graduated from Athénée Royale de Mons in Belgium in 1990 and following
this, he obtained a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering and
Telecommunications from Faculté Polytechnique de Mons, Belgium.
